January Update -- Probably not going to make January deadline =(
over 4 years ago – Sat, Jan 11, 2020 at 11:33:27 PM

Hello.

Well, I thought I'd have the print copies ready to ship out in early Jan and... I don't. The cards are printed and with Kixto for shipping, but the books are taking their time.

I got a test print just before Christmas and it was No Good, so I fixed up the files and sent off for another test print just after Christmas -- and I'm still waiting for it. Given that even if I receive it on Monday, it'll take another week or three to organise and run a bulk printing for everyone, never mind shipping times, I suspect that the January 2020 deadline is going to sail past with no hardcopies to be seen. Sorry about that.

I mean, it'll be with you soon, I just had high hopes for actually hitting my target with this one. Welp.

More updates as they happen.

Pdfs ahoy!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 05, 2019 at 01:52:07 AM

You've probably already noticed, but I've sent out download keys for all the Bleak Spirit pdfs on both itch.io and DrivethruRPG. (Plus any other pdfs you bought through Backerkit.)

If you haven't got your codes check your junk folders, down the back of the sofa, all the places odds and ends go missing, and if you still can't find it drop me a line and I'll sort you out.

Enjoy your game!

Chris

P.S. Hardcopies looking good for January, fingers crossed.

December Update -- Backerkit Finally Locked, PDFs Incoming Soon
over 4 years ago – Mon, Dec 02, 2019 at 02:06:50 AM

Hello!

I slightly skipped the November update because, uh... I hadn't done anything.

But now I've done loads! The cards are done and ready for printing, the art's all finished and the book's laid out -- I'm just waiting for Rebecca to finish her final proof of the book and then those'll be off to print too.

You'll probably have already noticed that I've sent the 48 hour notice that's going to lock your Backerkit details -- I was going to do this a month ago but then I realised that since the book wasn't ready to print I might as well leave things as open as possible. I've not used Backerkit before, so I'm sort of feeling my way with this one. Current plan is to charge cards once orders are locked, which is to say, 2-3 days from now depending on time zones.

I intend to get everything off to the printer this week, for delivery to the fulfillment centre hopefully later this month or early January, from where it will speed its way to you lot!

PDF copies will be provided round about the same time as I send them to the printer, so expect those soon as well. I'm going to supply those as freebie codes through both DrivethruRPG and itch.io -- use whichever one you like best, or both.

At least, that's the plan. Let's see if it works!

Late October Backerkit Nag
over 4 years ago – Fri, Oct 25, 2019 at 02:36:40 AM

Hello!

We're up to 91% completed surveys in Backerkit, thank you thank you.

Of the 40 people who haven't yet completed their survey, 19 of you are signed up for physical rewards -- books or cards or both. If you don't get me your details, you won't get your physical rewards. I'll print them and hold onto them for you, but if I don't know where to send them... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For electronic rewards it's not really a big deal: I'll send them to the email address you've registered in Kickstarter, and if you get in touch with me further down the line I can just throw you a copy with minimal fuss.

I'm going to lock surveys in... probably slightly more than a week since I'm going on holiday next weekend, but early November.

Cheers,

Chris

Mid-October Backerkit Nagging Update
over 4 years ago – Thu, Oct 17, 2019 at 03:37:54 AM

Hello hello.

Just a quick mid-month message to remind people to fill in your Backerkit surveys! There are 53 of you who haven't done so yet, and I want to nail down how many copies of everything I need to print. I plan to lock everything down on the 1st of November, so act fast!

(If you don't fill in your surveys then I'll still try to get you your things, I just can't promise anything because I won't have your up-to-date details.)

In other news, have you heard that Kickstarter staff are trying to unionise?

Kickstarter United want senior management to voluntarily recognise their union. So far the bigwigs have not done so, so KSU would like creators and backers alike to apply some pressure to the people with all the money by following their action guidelines here.

I'm not going to go on a deep dive into exploitation of workers, the functions of capital, and so on here. Just going to say that I'm 100% in favour of KSU's unionisation effort and will support it however they ask me to.

Anyway. Backerkit surveys! (And also unions.)

Cheers,

Chris
